How to Eat Keto at Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen Restaurant

I recently traveled to Las Vegas for my son's college graduation from UNLV. To celebrate this special occasion we dined at Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen Restaurant.

Sampling Gordon Ramsay's food at Hell's Kitchen has been a dream of mine for years, as I am a big fan of both Gordon and the Hell's Kitchen TV show.

As much as I would LOVE to try Chef Ramsay's signature Beef Wellington, I follow a ketogenic diet. In fact, now I am eating carnivore which is almost zero carbs.

If you follow a low-carb, ketogenic, or carnivore diet, I wrote this guide to dining at Hell's Kitchen just for you.

You'll learn:

  • What appetizers, entrees, side dishes, and desserts at Hell's Kitchen Restaurant are keto-friendly?

  • Which menu items are suitable for a carnivore (animal-based) diet?

  • What are Gordon Ramsay's signature dishes?

  • Where are Hell's Kitchen restaurants located and how to get a reservation?

  • How much does it cost to eat at Hell's Kitchen?

  • And who is Gordon Ramsay? (As if you need to ask!)

What is Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen restaurant?

Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen is a restaurant inspired by the long-running TV show of the same name. Their flagship restaurant is located in front of Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas (where I dined)

The Las Vegas location can seat over 300 guests, has floor-to-ceiling windows facing the Las Vegas Strip, has a contemporary bar, and has private dining rooms.

There are now Hell's Kitchen restaurants in Atlantic City, Washington, D.C., Lake Tahoe, and Southern California. Coming soon will be locations in Connecticut, Miami, and Chicago.

What is so special about Hell's Kitchen restaurants?

Hell's Kitchen restaurants are known for their high-energy atmosphere.

The menu features classic dishes by Michelin-starred Chef Gordon Ramsay, and diners can enjoy a front-row seat to the action in the open kitchen. The chefs preparing meals are not TV show contestants, but they sport the signature red and blue team headbands you’ll recognize from TV.

Additionally, guests can purchase merchandise and souvenirs inspired by the show. And you can take lots of photos to remember a special night like I did.

What are Hell's Kitchen restaurant signature dishes?

If you watch the Hell's Kitchen TV show you will recognize Gordon Ramsay's classics like Beef Wellington, Lobster Risotto, Sticky Toffee Pudding, and more.

I'll share more about the Hell's Kitchen dining experience, how much it costs to eat at Hell's Kitchen, and how to get a reservation below.

For now, let's dive into what to order at Hell's Kitchen when you follow a low-carb, ketogenic, or carnivore diet.

How to eat keto at Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen restaurants.

When you follow a keto diet (high fat, moderate protein, low carb) you have lots of options at Hell's Kitchen Restaurant.

Check out the menu in advance.

When I dine out, especially for an important occasion such as this, I always check out the online menu in advance. Then I arrive at the restaurant knowing what choices are best for me and can easily make a decision.

I recommend you browse the online menu before dining, as some of the options may change from time to time.

To find the Hell's Kitchen menu (choices may differ by location), click HERE, then scroll to your preferred location and click on the menu button.

Hell's Kitchen restaurant does NOT provide nutritional information.

There is no detailed nutritional information on the Hell's Kitchen website so I reached out to customer support via email on June 8, 2023. I received a response:

"Unfortunately we do not provide the nutritional information of our items. Apologies of the inconvenience."

Do your best.

The Hell's Kitchen menu lists the main ingredients in an entree or appetizer, but this doesn't mean there aren't other ingredients to give a dish its amazing flavor and texture.

I am not going to be THAT KETO PERSON who quizzes waitstaff over every ingredient. I will trust that the sherry-braised bacon lardons in the Pan-Seared Scallops appetizer aren’t encrusted in tons and tons of sugar.

When dining at Hell's Kitchen, like at many high-end restaurants, there is no detailed nutritional information with which to make smart dietary choices, so use your best judgment.

Pan-Seared Scallops with English pea puree, pickled fennel, sherry-braised bacon lardons. So yummy!

Keto-friendly appetizers at Hell's Kitchen.

Oysters on the half shell.

Oysters are low in calories, carbs, and high in nutrients like zinc, B-12, and omega-3 fatty acids. Enjoy.

Shrimp cocktail with gin cocktail sauce.

Shrimp are a great low-carb protein. Just go easy on the gin cocktail sauce.

Pan-Seared Scallops with English pea puree, pickled fennel, and sherry-braised bacon lardons.

Peas are higher in carbs, but there is a small amount in each serving. If you want to limit carbs, just take a taste of the pea puree.

Steak Tartare with Piedmontese beef, dijon mustard aioli, black truffle caviar, and sous vide egg yolk.

My one regret about dining at Hell's Kitchen is that I didn't order the steak tartare!!! Steak tartare is perfect for a keto or a carnivore diet.

Lobster risotto is a keto diet no-no, but you can enjoy the lobster if you have a tablemate willing to share! It’s poached in butter and is rich and delicious.

Avoid these appetizers at Hell's Kitchen when following a keto or carnivore diet.

Seared Foie Gras with stewed cherries, Scottish shortbread, and candied almonds.

Lobster Risotto with butter-poached lobster tail, truffle risotto, and crispy onions.

The risotto makes this a carb-heavy dish, unfortunately. If you have a generous tablemate willing to share, do like I did and have a few bites of the butter-poached lobster tail. It's so yummy!

RELATED: Keto Jalapeno Popper Dip is not quite the level of Hell’s Kitchen cuisine, but it’s an easy low-carb appetizer that’s great for parties and gatherings.

aN UNSWEETENED ICE TEA IS A GREAT WAY TO SAVE YOUR CARBS FOR YOUR MEAL!

Keto-friendly salads and soups at Hell's Kitchen restaurant.

Caesar Salad with Parmesan cheese frico, garlic croutons, lemon zest.

I had to Google "frico," ha ha. It's just a Parmesan cheese crisp and totally keto-friendly. Just skip the croutons and the Caesar salad is perfect for a keto or low-carb diet.

Avoid these soups and salads at Hell's Kitchen when following a keto or carnivore diet.

Golden Beet salad with goat cheese, pistachios, citrus, and white balsamic vinaigrette.

Quinoa Salad with Honeycrisp apples, dried currants & cranberries, candied pecans, ricotta salata.

This salad sounds delicious but it is not keto-friendly.

Spring Onion Soup with truffle potato hash and herb salad.

Likely the Spring Onion Soup is low-carb, but the truffle potato hash definitely is not.

This was my filet with bearnaise sauce - so yummy! The filet was perfectly cooked, as you might expect from a Gordon Ramsay restaurant.

Keto-friendly entrees at Hell's Kitchen Restaurant.

Filet Mignon: 8 ounces Santa Carota beef, roasted tomatoes on the vine, Bearnaise sauce.

The filet mignon is a totally  keto-friendly meal and it's carnivore as well!  It's also delicious because it is what I ordered at Hell's Kitchen when I dined there in May.

I skipped the tomatoes because I'm currently following a carnivore diet, but the few tomatoes will keep  you well within keto guidelines.

A  Béarnaise sauce is a classic French sauce made with a reduction of vinegar, white wine, shallots, and tarragon, which is then mixed with egg yolks and butter to create a rich and creamy sauce. The sauce has a tangy and slightly sweet flavor and pairs perfectly with the tender filet. Yum!

Hell’s Kitchen New York Strip Steak.

Dry-Aged New York Strip Steak: 14-ounce steak with shishito peppers, red wine demi-glace.

In Kansas City, where I live, we call this a Kansas City strip, but it doesn't matter what you call a big honkin' 14-ounce perfectly seared steak. This meal is keto-friendly and, if you skip the peppers, it works for a carnivore diet as well!

Crispy Skin Salmon with beluga lentils, shaved fennel salad, citrus herb Buerre blanc.

If you skip the lentils this is a keto-friendly dish.

Skip the lentils AND the fennel salad and it works for a carnivore diet.

Buerre blanc, if you're unfamiliar, is a butter, white wine sauce, sometimes paired with a little lemon juice.

tHE bEEF wELLINGTON AT hELL’S kITCHEN IS gORDON rAMSAY’S MOST FAMOUS SIGNATURE DISH. sADLY IT IS NOT KETO-FRIENDLY.

Avoid these entrees at Hell's Kitchen when following a keto or carnivore diet.

Beef Wellington with potato puree, glazed root vegetables, red wine demi-glace.

As you likely know, Beef Wellington is Gordon Ramsay's signature dish. Undoubtedly you've seen it prepared a zillion times on the Hell's Kitchen TV show. Sadly it is not at all keto-friendly. The crust contains carbs, as well as potato puree, and glazed root veggies. If you think "I'll just eat the meat," know that the beef inside is basically a filet mignon, which you can order separately (as I did).

mY HUSBAND ORDERED THE BRAISED SHORT RIB AND HE ENJOYED IT IMMENSELY!

Braised Short Rib with Yukon potato cake, Bloomsdale spinach, crispy fried onion rings, beef jus.

My husband ordered this and he was very happy with his meal.  If you ate just the beef short rib and skipped the potato cake and fried onion rings, your meal would be keto-friendly.  At $52.95 though, I'd rather spend my money on the strip steak, filet, or salmon, for a larger portion of meat.

Jidori Chicken Scallopini with roasted peewee potatoes, artichokes, Lacinato kale, truffle chicken jus.

This dish is sliced chicken breast served over potatoes, artichokes, and kale. Not keto-friendly unless you skipped the potatoes.

Keto-friendly side dishes at Hell's Kitchen restaurant.

Wild Mushrooms with a shallot-white wine glaze.

The mushroom side should be keto-friendly.

Avoid these side dishes at Hell's Kitchen when following a keto or carnivore diet.

Brussel Sprouts with maple shoyu glaze, pickled Fresno chile, glazed bacon lardon.

Since Hell's Kitchen does not provide detailed nutritional information, you need to make a guess as to the carbs in roasted Brussels sprouts with maple shoyu glaze. A similar recipe in MyFitnessPal has 36 grams of carbs per one-cup serving. To be safe, skip the Brussels sprouts or have just a few bites.

Baked macaroni & cheese with smoked gouda, and crispy prosciutto.

Our table ordered the mac and cheese and it was delicious - allegedly! - but not keto-friendly.

Potato Puree with creme fraiche, and chives.

Potatoes are not keto-friendly.

I sipped on a decaf drip coffee with cream while the rest of my table enjoyed desserts.

Keto-friendly desserts at Hell's Kitchen restaurant.

You wouldn't expect to find a keto-friendly dessert at Hell's Kitchen Restaurant, would you?

Well I did. And there are three.

The drip coffee, the decaf drip coffee, and the espresso & decaf coffee blend.

It's probably cheating calling expensive coffee a keto-friendly dessert, BUT sipping on my decaf drip (with flavor notes of berry, milk chocolate, and sweet nuts) with cream helped me not lunge across the table for the Sticky Toffee Pudding, the Death by Chocolate, or the Coconut 3-Ways that my family ordered!

Everyone at my table agreed that the Sticky Toffee Pudding was THE BEST DESSERT!

Avoid these desserts at Hell's Kitchen when following a keto or carnivore diet.

Sticky Toffee Pudding.

This is Gordon Ramsay's signature dessert, and I am proud to say I sniffed it but did not have even a taste! Self-control muscle flexed for the win!

Everyone at our table agreed this dessert was amazing. Sticky toffee pudding is a classic British dessert made with dates, sponge cake, and a toffee sauce, served warm with a scoop of rich dulce de leche ice cream. The Hell's Kitchen version is known for its rich, gooey texture and intense toffee flavor.

Blueberry Cheesecake with Chantilly cream, lemon curd, and blueberry ganache.

Stay away if you eat a low-carb diet.

The Death by Chocolate dessert is a work of art!

Death By Chocolate: rich chocolate fondant cake, chocolate mousse crispy pearls, brownie, and cookies & cream ice cream.

My son who just graduated ordered this and shared with his girlfriend. The dessert looked stunning! They loved the chocolatey goodness. Sadly it is a no-go on a keto diet.

Coconut 3-Ways: coconut sorbet, passion fruit caramel, coconut crouton.

I don’t have a good photo of this dessert, but it was a stunning presentation - coconut sorbet in a coconut shell, with the passion fruit sauce, and an edible flower.

How to follow a carnivore diet while dining at Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen restaurant.

If you follow a carnivore diet you are no doubt familiar with the "rules" of carnivore. "Strict carnivore" means to eat a diet of animal products, water, and salt only. This means meats, like Gordon Ramsay's signature filet mignon, seafood, chicken, poultry, and dairy products like heavy cream and cheeses.

Some carnivores also allow seasonings like black pepper, vinegar, herbs, and spices, or a tiny bit of plant food in sauces or garnishes.

I started following a carnivore diet in February of 2023 mainly to reduce my joint pain but I've had many unexpected benefits like much improved IBS and digestion, weight loss, the ability to cut my blood pressure medication in half, no food cravings, and my hair loss - and I'm a female! - (probably from too little protein) has improved dramatically.

As you might expect, your carnivore options are limited, but there are several protein items you can order:

Filet Mignon.

This is what I ordered at Hell's Kitchen because I absolutely love a filet. It is a very generous portion (8 ounces) and it was cooked to perfection.

The Bearnaise sauce is an egg yolk-butter sauce with a little vinegar and tarragon. Other than the vinegar and tarragon it is animal-based and carnivore-friendly, so I enjoyed this tangy, rich sauce on my steak.

Just skip the roasted tomatoes.

Dry-Aged New York Strip Steak

My son (who is a chef at a BBQ restaurant) ordered the strip steak and really enjoyed it. It's perfect for a carnivore diet.

Just skip the peppers and the red wine demi-glace, which is not made from animal products.

Crispy Skin Salmon with beluga lentils, shaved fennel salad, citrus herb buerre blanc.

Crispy salmon is definitely part of a carnivore diet, so enjoy! The

Buerre blanc is a butter, white wine sauce, usually made with a touch of lemon juice so if you don't mind a tiny bit of wine or lemon you can enjoy it on a carnivore diet.

Skip the sauce and fennel salad for strict carnivore.

Is there a dress code at Hell's Kitchen Restaurant in Las Vegas?

The dress code at Hell's Kitchen Restaurant in Las Vegas is business casual attire. That said, lots of men were dressed in nice shorts or jeans with polo or button-down shirts. Women wore dresses, jeans, capris, or nice shorts with blouses or tops. I did see some people wearing t-shirts, including one of my sons.
