Following a keto diet, or any diet, requires a little time spent meal planning. It is impossible to have healthy high fat, low carb food in the house without a preparation and planning.

That said, there are lots of tools to make keto meal planning and grocery shopping easier. Here are a few I have personally tried and recommend. Click on the links to learn why I recommend each program.

Fastest keto meal planning integrated with online shopping and grocery delivery services

eMeals Keto Meal Plan gives you the convenience of planning meals in an app. Not only does it make keto meal planning effortless, but it integrates with Kroger, Walmart, InstaCart, Shipt, and other grocery pickup and delivery services.

eMeals is hands-down the fastest and easiest way to create a keto menu each week.

Each week you get 7 keto dinner options, 5 breakfast, and 5 lunch recipes. You can save your favorites and even choose recipes from the previous week. Also, you are not limited to just choosing from the keto menu.  eMeals has many different meal plans (like low carb, heart-healthy, or Mediterranean) and you can swap meal plans at any time.

For a minimalist like me, the eMeals recipes are simple, easy to prepare, and have short ingredient lists.

How eMeals keto works.

eMeals has an amazing app with recipes and colorful photos, complete nutritional information, and how long the recipes take to prepare. Because you meal plan through the app you can do it literally anywhere.

You receive a new week’s worth of menus on Wednesday. Just tap on the recipes you want to plan for the week and eMeals adds all the ingredients to your shopping list. You can easily edit the list to add other items you want to purchase and remove items you already have on hand.

Bring your phone with the organized shopping list to the store if you like to shop in person. Or send your list directly to grocery pickup and delivery services like Walmart, Amazon Fresh, Kroger, Albertsons, Safeway, H-E-B, Instacart, or Shipt.

I wrote a very detailed review of my experience using eMeals and you can read it here: My Review of eMeals Keto Diet Plan with Walmart Pickup (and Why I Love It)

How much does the eMeals keto meal plan cost?

A subscription to eMeals is as low as $4.99 a month for a 12-month subscription. You also have the option of a 3-month subscription for $9.99 a month. They offer a 14-day risk-free trial so I recommend signing up if you are curious.

Best organizational tool to plan keto meals YOU love.

Plan to Eat is the best tool I have found to plan keto meals using recipes you love from blogs, from cookbook, from Pinterest, or that you’ve found anywhere on the web.

If you want to plan amazing keto meals and snacks but you don’t want to follow someone else’s plan, Plan to Eat is the best choice for you.  I have been a Plan to Eat subscriber for over 5 years and couldn’t live without it.

Plan to Eat doesn’t give you keto meal plans, but allows you to add your own recipes with just a few clicks and create your personalized meal plans by dragging and dropping them onto their calendar. You can add recipes from any website or blog, or even create your own or add recipes from books or magazines.

Plan to Eat is available on a desktop, and it has iPad and phone apps so you have the convenience of meal planning or adding recipes from anywhere.

As much as I love the idea of following someone’s keto meal plan, I am the type of person who wants to eat what sounds good in the moment. There is no meal plan in the world that knows when I’m craving Thai, or Italian, or when I can’t get enough of grassfed bacon cheeseburgers.

The cool thing is you can use Plan to Eat with other keto meal plans, like eMeals, or the Balanced Keto Plan. I’ve imported many recipes from other meal planning services into Plan to Eat.

How Plan to Eat works.

Log in to your account and add your favorite recipes. There is a browser extension to add recipes with just a click, or copy-and-paste the URL into Plan to Eat to import the recipe.

Often I’ll google “keto pad thai recipes” on my phone while watching TV. I find a recipe I want to try, and immediately add it to Plan to Eat with just a few taps.

To meal plan you can search for ingredient, recipe name, category, tag (like keto or low carb) and drag-and-drop the recipe into your weekly meal planner. You can save meal plans and menus to use in the future which is a huge time saver.

Plan to Eat generates a shopping list and you can easily add or remove items.

Print the grocery list or use the app to shop in the store. Right now there is not a way to send your list directly to InstaCart or other grocery shopping services, but you can easily create a list for Walmart, Target, or  your local grocery store using the list generated by Plan to Eat.

How much does Plan to Eat cost?

Plan to Eat costs $4.95 per month or $39 per year. They offer a 30 day free trial (which I highly recommend!) and they do not ask for credit card information before starting the trial. Plan to Eat  also offers a 60-day, no-questions-asked refund policy.
